Silent e words

Twenty words where the silent e at the end makes the vowel say its name: cake, bike, hope. Each has what it means. Open them in SpellKitty and the kitty says each word while your child spells it out loud.

What the list is

The rule a first or second grader meets: add an e and “cap” becomes “cape”. Hearing the long vowel is the clue to the e, and spelling out loud makes the clue plain.

How to practice them
